How Long The Process Takes
The process, including obtaining temporary residency, the foreigner registration card, and the identity card, typically takes 35 to 40 working days. This timeframe is approximate and may vary based on specific circumstances. While staying in Paraguay for the entire duration is unnecessary, your presence will be required at certain stages of the process.

The First Stage and the Second Stage
The First Stage involves applying for residency with the Department of Immigration and registering as a foreigner with the National Police Investigation Department. During this stage, two in-person appointments are required. The law office will handle the remaining documentation without the need for your presence. This is done on the same day, taking around 1.5 hours.
The Second Stage occurs after the residency has been granted. You will be scheduled to apply for the Paraguayan Identity Card. This will require only one day of your presence. With expedited processing, the identity card will be ready for collection within 10 business days from the application date. -
