How To Apply For Montserrat Digital Nomad Visa

Montserrat is located in the Caribbean, close to the British Virgin Islands and Antigua & Barbuda. The island's remote work visa is undoubtedly attractive to individuals seeking to escape lockdowns, harsh weather and possibly crowded, noisy cities in their home countries.

Montserrat has an almost non-existent crime rate, excellent internet connections, low cost of living and sufficient natural beauty to enjoy oneself year-round. This may be an excellent opportunity to save money while residing in a tropical paradise.

Visa Overview

With the introduction of their new program, the "Montserrat Remote Work Stamp," beginning in February 2021, Montserrat is one of the more recent Caribbean countries to entice digital nomads to come and reside for a while. Montserrat's version is similar if you are acquainted with the various remote work visas available in the Caribbean, with some easier entry terms and conditions to comply with. You can work remotely in Montserrat and stay for up to 12 months without paying any local income tax or other complicated residency requirements. This is good news if you are tax-savvy and want to take advantage of certain tax benefits. Additionally, after the initial 12-month period, applications for extensions or renewals will be taken into consideration, and you are welcome to bring your family to live with you in this beautiful country.

How to Apply for a Montserrat Digital Nomad Visa

The entire application procedure is completed online. You should be able to upload all of your documents and fill out the information field in just 15 minutes. Before beginning the online application process, we advise gathering all required documents.

These documents  are;

  • Proof of Employment/Business
  • Incorporation Certificate
  • Proof of the annual income
  • Copy of Passport Biographical Data
  • Proof of valid health insurance
  • Police Record
  • Passport Size Photograph

If applying jointly with family members, each dependent must provide a passport-size photo, a copy of passport biographical information, proof of relationship (if they are under 18), and a letter of enrollment from their school (If attending an online school).

Make sure to digitize and translate these documents into English before uploading them with your application. Select the appropriate application type—individual or family— and pay a non-refundable fee. The fees are $500 USD for an individual, $750 USD for an individual travelling with three family members, and $250 USD for each additional family member. You can pay using a credit card, and your application won't be processed if you don't pay when submitting documents.

After completing all of these processes, you will get an email reply within seven business days notifying you if your Montserrat digital nomad visa application was approved or denied. If approved, a 12-month visa term will be issued to you and make sure you bring your approval letter when travelling to Montserrat. The other thing to remember is that when you apply, be prepared to start your journey immediately as the clock starts ticking for your one-year digital nomad visa.

Advantages of Working as a Digital Nomad in Montserrat

The Montserrat digital nomad visa is similar to other Caribbean islands, but it is more straightforward regarding the application requirements, and you are not obligated to pay any tax as a digital nomad.

Beaches and a tropical environment make Montserrat the ideal place to unwind while conducting business remotely. It has the lowest humidity in the Caribbean due to the consistent sea and mountain breezes. It is perfect for you if you are looking for a change from cities, with several activities available in Montserrat, ranging from hiking to different water sports.

Montserrat has a low cost of living. A family of four can expect to spend up to $2,500 USD per month on living expenditures, including rent in a nice 3-bedroom apartment. You can rent various properties, from basic flats to exclusive luxury villas, with a wide range of prices. Without utilizing the services of an agency, you can rent your own apartment. On average, renting a one-bedroom apartment will cost you about $500 a month, while luxury villas can cost up to $2,500 USD. Additionally, daily-running cabs and buses, both public and private, are available. The cost of a daily ticket is around $1 USD, while monthly passes for public transit are about $25 USD.

British, African, Spanish, and Caribbean flavours all have a distinctive effect on national cuisine, so remember that culinary possibilities will never be lacking for you.

Conclusion

Montserrat is a perfect location to set out some time to focus on work-related tasks and personal objectives.  Also, during leisure time, you can go on a safe volcanic hike, unwind at Rendezvous Beach, venture to one of the many cafés or eateries or engage in various water sports all across the island. All this can come true with a Montserrat Digital Nomad Visa.
