Part of the GEMS education community, Dubai American Academy started welcoming students into its classrooms back in 1997. The school has excellent connections with prestigious colleges and universities, and older students are granted access to these institutions via Dubai American Academy. It has been classified as an outstanding school for five years in a row. It’s affiliated with the Council of International Schools, NEASC, International Baccalaureate, and MEIBA.

Rates and prices

At Dubai American Academy, the annual fees range from 21.781 dirhams for kindergarteners to 80.640 dirhams for first to twelfth graders. If your child is a new enrolment, a registration fee 0f 500 dirhams is applicable. This is non-transferrable and non-refundable. Once a seat is offered to the student, an admission fee of 10.000 dirhams is payable to secure the seat. The payment can be made in a variety of ways – cheque, cash, or a wire transfer to the school’s bank account.


Dubai American Academy is one of the most accessible schools in Dubai, located in Al Barsha. Parents who work in Barsha Heights, JLT, Internet City, and Media City will find it convenient to drop their wards off at the institution. The venue can also be easily accessed via both personal and public transportation. School transportation is available for remotely located students.


While its educational curriculum is American, a sense of global citizenship is nurtured in all students. Dubai is a multi-cultural melting pot, so students are made extremely aware of different nationalities and cultures. Dubai American Academy, a part of GEMS , is heavily involved in philanthropy. The community has spent the past five decades raising 40 million dollars for charities all across the globe. Students are constantly encouraged to be more than just academically proficient. They’re also involved in a number of programs that are conducive to core values. These include World Challenge, The World Scholars Cup, The Young Leaders’ Programme London, Debate Mate, World Robotics Olympics, The Astronaut Virtual Training Programme, and more.


Dubai American Academy extends a diverse array of facilities to its students. It houses seven computer labs, two miniature labs, indoor play area, a weight room, drama rooms, art studios, music rooms, a library, a well-equipped media centre, and resource centres. The school is spread across 23 acres. Its outdoor facilities include two swimming pools, a soccer pitch, spacious gyms, verdant play zones, tennis courts, health offices, an auditorium, and healthy cafeterias.

Academic reputation

Dubai American Academy has received an excellent review from the KHDA; that claims the school offers an outstanding educational experience to its students. The school is making an effort to improve its Arabic and Islamic studies department, although the KHDA claims this needs work. The school is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The school’s curriculum and features are both highly commended.


The school’s student body comprises 99 nationalities, although most hail from North America. Other prominent nationalities include Canada, India, South Korea, and Egypt. The male to female ratio is equal, currently standing at 50:50. The school’s teachers also come from all over the world, while most of them are from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Thailand.
